Facebook Comments problem solved! 6

JISHOU, HUNAN — A while ago, I linked this blog to my Facebook account. My posts here are automatically imported into my FB Notes. Once upon a time, I had another plugin that extracted comments to the imported Notes from FB back here. But it stopped working, and its developer gave up working on it.

But another developer stepped in to restore the functionality. Facebook Comments TNG works! I installed it just now, and it pulled comments from FB perfectly. Now, I may have to go through them and edit out duplicates, but that’s a minor irritation compared to having to manually copy-and-paste FB comments myself.

I prefer the Add This plug-in — http://www.addthis.com/. It sets up a Facebook-friendly link back to my blog and lets me control what I say to promote my post — no copying and pasting required. I'm posting this on your FB Note, which has no link of any kind to your blog. I'll check to see if this comment gets exported to your blog… but first I'll have to scour your FB profile to try to discover the URL for your blog.

Back in the day messages were carried on wires. Did that make the pathway reliable? Don't know. Do know this wireless thing can be a maze with unexpected drop off locations. ?Space junk?

I had it set to extract daily. Thanks for the heads up. It’ll now scrape hourly. Good point about linking to my blog. I’ll need to add one myself to the end of each post, until I can figure how to automate it.

1976. Boy, that was long time ago, wasn’t it? I remember working paste-up on Election Night and catching a bad typo in a headline. Can’t remember what it was now, though. … Hey, you kids! Get off my lawn! … Now, what was I saying?

Hey John — I’ll always remember you as my first-ever newspaper editor, Spring semester, 1976-77.

I’m not so sure your Facebook app is working “perfectly”. I commented on the FB Notes version of this post four hours ago and it hasn’t shown up here. I think these apps typically are set to scrape the blog every hour or half-hour, right? If it’s scraping only daily or some such, you’re losing opportunities for spontaneity.

Is your app still working? What ver of WordPress are you using to test that it is working? Thanks, been having a terrible time getting it to work.
