Nothing to see here. No Rapture here. Now move along. 2

JISHOU, HUNAN — Six pm came and went, and nothing unusual happened, despite Harold Camping’s prophecy of the Rapture today. It is raining, but cats and dogs, not fire and brimstone. No one rose up into Heaven, either.

Draw your own conclusions. And enjoy your weekend — maybe it will be rapturous in an entirely different way.

Are you sure no one rose to heaven? The CIA’s World Factbook puts the percentage of Chinese who are Christians at 3-4%. That’d be pretty easy to miss if you’re in the wrong spot. And since I’m guessing your usual crowd is a bunch of heathens, I’m thinking it all happened and you missed it.

By the way, greetings from heaven. 2 1/2 hours and I’m already to smash somebody’s harp (like an angelic John Belushi in a divine version of Animal House). Fortunately the internet up here has Itunes, so I’ve been able to download some Dead Kennedys (curiously, they’re the only Kennedys up here).

Surely there must be some True Christians™ among 1.4 billion people. Anyone rising into the sky would have made headlines, I would suppose.

How’s the WiFi service up there? Or is Heaven on a 3G network?
